Meet Leney. Richmond, VA. "The Knitting Queen". Traveling Photographer. Daughter of a Sailor. Full-time knitwear designer.
LENEY"S STORY
I remember being eight years old, sitting on a taupe-colored couch, clutching pencil-sized, plastic, red knitting needles and wrapping multi-colored purple and green yarn (which, at the time, I thought was the most beautiful and ingenious color combination ever) around them. My grandmother was teaching me how to knit.
And so the obsession began.
My name is Leney, and I work full time as a knitwear designer and creator in Richmond Virginia. I've been artsy ever since I was a little girl, and I can't remember a time when I wasn't creating in some way shape or forum. (And I'm talkin' handmade vests out of paper grocery bags decorated with pom poms, glitter, and glue. And Caprisun purses. Oh and belts made from pop tabs. Yep. I was an extremely resourceful and stylish kid).
Additionally, I'm a photographer! Taking photos is another one of my many passions. Especially when I can couple it with traveling. You can read more about that on my website: www.agirlnamedleney.com
In short, creating is what I do, whether it's with yarn and knitting needles or with a camera capturing images. I live and breathe it every day, and through it I strive to give glory to my Creator, because He's the one who gave me these talents and abilities to begin with.
When I'm not knitting or taking photos you can most likely find me...
Thrifting, eating fried green tomatoes/excessive amounts of fruit (especially mangos), making lists of everything, watching Gilmore Girls, reading library books, dancing (any time, anywhere, and most likely without warning), enjoying night scenes, pretending I know how to cook, writing in leather journals, trying to learn french, also trying to keep my succulents alive, hula hooping, playing scrabble, taking photos of VW's (okay, this falls under the 'taking photos' category technically but this is almost a hobby in and of itself. Consult Instagram for proof. #nevernottakingphotosofvws) listening to Billie Holiday or Beirut, adding to my Alice In Wonderland book collection, reorganizing/redecorating my little apartment (again), finding excuses to travel (also again) and loving on a bunny named Lewis.

P.s. The Knitting Queen?
It's something a friend called me once, and it's monicker that's just sort of just stuck ever since.
